The Hits Just Keep on Coming: BetUS the Latest Room to Cease USA Operations
Written by Thomas | Friday, May 6th, 2011
“Black Friday” has claimed yet another beloved USA room…
BetUS, one of the biggest sportsbooks in the world and in the USA, announced they are leaving the USA market effective immediately. The site, which has a popular poker skin attached to it, will be making it official over the next few days by emailing out their players and affiliates who play on the site.
BetUS is following the lead of Sportsbook.com and PlayersOnly.com, which stopped accepting new players May 1st, 2011, but will continue to service existing customers who had real money account prior to that date.
The sportsbook site had become one of the rising players in the sports market, rivaling other books like Bodog and Bet365 in terms of traffic and popularity over the past several years.
The turmoil that has been caused by the DOJ cracking down on the 3 biggest poker companies in the world several weeks ago has had long-standing effects on other gambling sites, as numerous online casinos have also started pulling out of the USA for the time being.
It’s bittersweet irony that a site called BetUS isn’t going to be serving the primary base of their company name….
More to come on this story as it comes to us.
