The start of the New Year is very exciting especially in the poker industry. Brand new tournaments and old school favorites usually come back better than ever – and of course have even more prize $$$ involved. PokerStars is getting ready to bring back one of such popular tournament that has become one of their live poker darlings: PokerStars Macau.

This will be the fifth time the tournament series will be brought back in action and this year the event is set to offer the largest schedule to ever take place in Macau. There will be four major tournaments taking place throughout the year as well as smaller events and side action.

The first event of 2011 PokerStars Macau will take place from the 21^st to the 27^th of February and it is the Macau Poker Cup. After this event the schedule consists of the Macau Millions, Macau Poker Cup Championship and the APPT Macau.

During the Macau Poker Cup players will see man changes. The structure has been changed in the hopes that more players will come in. the event has grown each year and PokerStars wants to see the event continue to grow.

The Red Dragon event of the Macau Poker Cup will have a larger buy-in but players will be compensated with a fifty percent larger starting stack. The stack will now be 15,000 chips. Also with the larger buy-in comes a lager prize pool so who can really complain??

The Macau Poker Cup used to last just five days but now PokerStars has updated the event to last seven days. Players will be able to compete in side games as well as six championship events. Players can also start earning their seats to the events by visiting PokerStars and competing in satellites that are running four times a week. Below is a schedule of events for the Macau Poker Cup.

• Tuesday, February 22 @ 8:10 PM – Event 1: $1,000 Charity Event + 2 Rebuys ($50,000 Added Prizes)
• Wednesday, February 23 @ 8:10 PM – Event 2: $2,500 KO Bounty ($200,000 Guarantee) [2-day event]
• Thursday, February 24 @ 8:10 PM – Event 3: $3,000 NLH ($350,000 Guarantee) [2-day event]
• Friday, February 25 @ 12:10 PM – Event 4: $1,500 Deepstack ($150,000 Guarantee)
• Friday, February 25 @ 8:10 PM – Event 5: $11,000 Red Dragon ($3,000,000 Guarantee), Day 1A
• Saturday, February 26 @ 12:10 PM – Event 5: $11,000 Red Dragon ($3,000,000 Guarantee), Day 1B
• Saturday, February 26 @ 10:00 PM – $1,000 Ladies Event
• Sunday, February 27 @ 2:30 PM – Event 6: $5,000 NLH ($400,000 Guarantee)
