PokerStars and Full Tilt Make Deal with DOJ to Process Cashouts

Since April 15th, online poker players have been worried senseless about their accounts with PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker. These online poker rooms had their top officials served with indictments on the 15th, otherwise known as Black Friday, and when this happened members of the sites lost access to their online accounts.

Some players may have a small amount of cash in their accounts while many others had thousands of dollars that they could not access. When the domain names of each site were seized by the Department of Justice, players had absolutely no answers as to how they were going to be able to get the cash out of their accounts.

However, as of just a few days ago, both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker signed agreements with the Department of Justice to be able to return funds to US players. Both online poker rooms set up a deal that would allow them to use their domain names in the US to be better able to return funds to poker players.

Both PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker have worked hard to make sure their members from the United States were sure that their funds were safe and that they would eventually be able to get the money back to the players. However, Absolute Poker and UB do not seem to be taking the same tactic.

Both Absolute and UB operate on the CEREUS Network and Absolute has refused to work with the DOJ to come to an agreement on how to release funds to players. Instead of following the lead of top poker rooms PokerStars and Full Tilt, Absolute Poker decided to take a different route and released this statement on the subject:

“At this time, Absolute Poker’s top priority is, and must be, the refund of balances to it’s and UB’s US players. However, given the far-reaching consequences of the US Attorney’s actions for Absolute Poker and for the entire poker community, Absolute Poker believes that the responsible course of action is to review with its attorneys the relevant court filings before taking any action.”

It seems as though Absolute Poker is putting player’s feelings and concerns on the back burner. One of the main contributing factors to a successful online poker room is customer service and currently Absolute Poker is severely lacking and will no doubt go down with it’s sinking ship until the very end…
