It is that time of year, time for the Poker Hall of Fame nominations. This year, nearly 200 players were nominated, 181 to be exact. Officials at Harrah’s casino have reported that the voting trends this year have been very similar to what they were last year. Speaking about the process of voting individual into the Poker Hall of Fame was Seth Palansky, who is the World Series of Poker’s Communications Director. In a recent interview he stated that the process is going well and that the candidates for this year are very good ones.

Individuals interested in voting can do so. In order to submit a vote, each voter will be required to submit their first and last name, address, country, email, date of birth and the name of the person they would like to nominate. They also have 250 words to express why they believe their particular candidate deserves to be a nominee. The cut off date for nominations is August 31st. They can be submitted to the World Series of Poker website. Harrah’s will announce the names of this year’s nominees on September 1st. The Poker Hall of Fame nominating committee will then review it. Last year, poker stud, Tom “durrr” Dwan was eliminated from contention after it was decided that his play has not “stood the test of time.” This is just one of the five criteria the nominating committee judges players based on and which make poker players eligible for nomination.
The induction dinner for the 2010 Poker Hall of Fame nominees will take place during the November Nine. This is fitting considering that this is Poker’s most prestigious events. Last year’s dinner was a huge success with notable current players in attendance. This year’s diver promises to be even more extravagant. Those individuals interested in voting their players into the Hall have just a few more days to get their ballots in. If you are one of those persons, don’t delay!
