Written by Thomas | Sunday, August 22nd, 2010
Kevin Stani won the initial leg of the European Poker Tour Season 7. His win not only brought him a bit of notoriety but also prevented Arnaud Mattern from Double EPT status. This year, the EPT was played in the Baltic States, the first time it was ever hosted there. The tournament, turned out to be a major one. With 420 participating, it was the biggest poker tournament to ever be played in Estonia. Another record was shattered, this time by Luca Pagano, who set of record with 15 EPT cashes. One of his most recent cashes was in the €4,250 buy-in main event.

When Arnaud Mattern lost the EPT Tallinn Main Event, he fettered away his chances to become a double EPT champion. He would have been the first person to have ever accomplished this. Instead, KevBoyStar Stani, a Norwegian, took home the event’s top prizes, preventing history from being made.
Stani quickly took the lead and never relinquished it. A younger player, at only 27 years old, qualified for the tournament via PokerStars, winning €400,000. He also won a place in the EPT Grand Final to be held next year. Mattern didn’t do poorly. Even though he didn’t reach his goal of becoming a two-time EPT champion, he did manage to finish in 3rd place and win €160,000.
