Illegal Bot Ring Discovered At PokerStars

PokerStars is one of the most well known poker websites on the internet not to mention the largest. This unfortunately, does not safeguard them against unethical acts and people. Recently, several online poker players, along with posters from twoplustwo.com, discovered an illegal bot ring. A forum visitor at one of the more popular internet poker forums grew increasingly suspicious that a bot was being used at the website. He became alarmed after noticing that the following “players” had very peculiar tendencies. These “players” used the following screen names, Bakabar, Feidmanis, 7emenov, Daergy, Crazier, Koldan, Mvra, Demidou, Kozzin and Nakseon.

The poster, known as ‘Mallic’ made a list of three things in which the players were similar. All of them would sit down at the same table stakes. Every one of them would move down after so many (a set) hands after a brief period of time. It didn’t matter what the results were. They would also make the exact same downward move after they made the aforementioned moves, again, roughly at the same time.
Eventually, an increasing number of individuals began to notice the same things. A third party was brought in, PokerTableRatings.com. PokerTableRatings.com found the aforementioned things to be true. In fact, their statistical analysis uncovered the ten players styles of play varied no greater then 2.39. For most other internet poker players, this figure is somewhere around 32.94, a significant different and proof positive that something fishy was going on. This wasn’t likely a coincidence but an illegal bot.
When PokerStars was notified and presented with the findings, they took swift action. Each of the previously named players were booted from the site. Because such activity is not accepted, it is likely that these players or the same player with multiple accounts (whatever the case) will not be paid any money owed to him or her.
