PokerStars is the number one poker room in the world, with millions of registered users playing online 24/7.  A big reason there are so many real money customers is the ease of use of Instant eChecks, one of the most popular methods for USA gamblers right now here in the United States.

However, after a recent series of events with payment processors, poker players will have one less payment option thanks to the United States government’s crackdown on these processors since UIGEA was finally put into place a few months ago.

US residents in specific states will no longer be able to use the eCheck option for their transactions. And it’s not just PokerStars, many popular poker sites online  have also left the market in many states and have also shut down eChecks options in a few states.

PokerStars has already stepped out of the state of Washington and it is believed that the following states are no longer able to use the eCheck option:

• New York
• Nevada
• Indiana
• Florida
• Missouri
• Illinois
• Kentucky
• New Jersey
• Maryland

It looks as though the eCheck option is the only one as of right now where  players from these states can’t use eChecks to deposit funds online, especially at PokerStars.

There are still other options for players to use such as bank wire, western union and check by mail but they too soon may be stopped if the government in the US has anything to do with it. Just a few weeks ago it was reported by Forbes Magazine that many financial institutions in Washington State had millions of dollars frozen that dealt with sites like PokerStars as well as Full Tilt, UB and Absolute Poker.

So with problems like these it is no wonder that eChecks have become a problem as well. Many online poker operators have had problems with eChecks and with the UIGEA, which was passed back in 2006, in full force online poker rooms may find they have even more problems with online banking transactions in the future.
