Doyles Room and Cake Network Rumored to be Severing Ties

It’s been widely reported for weeks that the once-popular poker site Doyles Room is looking for a new network to move it’s gaming platform over to.  Forums at 2+2 and PartTimePoker have been blowing up with speculation that Doyles is frantically looking to move from the Cake Network, desperately trying to save a once-hopeful brand and a site that a number of players call home.

Disparaging reports have said that affiliates who have been promoting Doyles Room on their websites have not been paid commissions for months now and players who frequented the site are not receiving their cashouts, giving more credibility to the hearsay spreading around the poker community:

Is Doyles done – or is the Cake Network a sinking ship?

Since Cake Poker started renting out poker skins to operators, it seems like they have been losing immense ground – and clients – either to simple bankruptcy or just having rooms move over to different networks.

Merge Gaming has been a beneficiary in Cake’s recent demise, picking up popular sites like Sportsbook.com Poker and Players Only from Cake in recent months.  Their flagship room at Carbon Poker is also fast-becoming a fan-favorite amongst online poker players and has been absolutely killing Cake Poker’s numbers.

Oh what a year can do to a network….

Surprisingly, Doyle Brunson, the man who has given his good and reputable name to this skin for years now, has remained quiet about the entire situation, instead choosing to go around the subject and rumors and focus on his blogging duties over at CardPlayer.  The WSOP and cash-game legend hasn’t really been too involved with his own site for a long time now, other than to lend his face and voice to promotional material on the company’s website.

It isn’t known as of today what the status of Doyles Room or the Cake Poker Network in general, but we’ll be following this story very closely as more and more of the story keeps getting unveiled.
