David Williams is the Latest PokerStars Pro

According to inside sources, poker professional David Williams is headed to PokerStars as one of their in-house pros. The agency representing him, Poker Royalty, has confirmed the move. David and Pokerstars legally made the partnership binding in the last few days. The move to PokerStars is a rather impressive one, considering that they are the biggest internet-based poker website in the world.

Williams is having a good year on the felts, winning the 2010 World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship. This win netted him $1.5 million. It was shortly after this win that he left Bodog, where he was on the pro roster. 2010 marked his fourth time participating in a WPT final. Over the course of his career, he has racked up almost $3 million in WPT cashes.

David Williams isn’t the only recent defect from Bodog in 2010. This year, two other pros left. They were Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo and Jean-Robert Bellande. It looks like Bodog is attempting to pare down their site’s pro roster. However, the company has made some additions, well at least one. Amanda Musumeci recently joined the company as a sponsored professional. To date, Musumeci and Evelyn Ng are the company’s only two sponsored pros. No word on whether or not they are looking to expand or if they are planning to stay with a two-member pro roster.

On July 6th PokerStars held a cocktail party for several professional poker players, amongst them David Williams, Joe Cada (the 2009 WSOP Main Event Championship) and Vanessa Selbst. No word if Vanessa Selbst will be an addition to the company’s pro roster as well.

Over the course of William’s career the successful pro has won nearly $8 million in live tournament events. Notable finishes include runner-up in the 2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP) event. He took home a bracelet in the 2006 WSOP $1500 Seven Card Stud and finished in second place at the $5,000 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Tournament.
