Written by Thomas | Wednesday, April 6th, 2011
This weekend, the 2011 Masters golf tournament will tee-off. The Masters is in it’s 75th year, and is one of the longest standing golf tournaments in the world. The event is a yearly tradition the second weekend of April. The tourmament will take place at Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta Georgia. One of the unique aspects of the Masters is, it still stands as one of the lone golf tournaments that is by invitation only.
The defending champion of the Masters is Phil Mickelson. Win or lose in this years tournament, Mickelson will be in the winners club house at the end of the event. It is a tradtion at the Masters, that the winner of the previous years tournament hands over the new green jacket to the winner.
The Masters tournament is one of the best golf tournaments to bet on. There are of course, odds to win the tournament, but then there are also odds for head to head matchup between golfers, and also certain prop bets regarding action that could go on, on the golf course. Sportsbook.com or 5Dimes are the best bets for your action, as they’ve been known to take additional props for sports beyond golf – even being one of the most go to soccer and cricket betting sites out there today.
For the 2011 Masters, we got our betting odds from BetUs. Phil Mickelson is listed at +600 to win the tournament. No matter how good you are – no matter what the sport – it is very difficult to go back-to-back. Mickelson, the left hander will look to do that. His main competition will be someone that has not won a major tournament for 16 months. Tiger Woods comes in next at +850. Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy are next in line according to the odds makers.
Mickelson and Woods are good choices to pick to win the 2011 Masters. But, if we had to give a best bet, which is what we are going to do: we like Lee Westwood to win the 2011 Masters. Westwood is listed at +1200, which is a very nice value bet.
Good luck with your 2011 Masters betting. We cannot wait for all the great golf action this weekend!
