PokerStars Makes Big Changes to Cash Game Tables in NLHE and PLO Hi Lo

PokerStars, the world’s largest poker room, has added a range of new ring game tables and features for players.

First of all, PokerStars has finally introduced Cap tables. Cap tables were first introduced at Full Tilt Poker more than two years ago and place a limit on how much a player can bet over the course of a single hand. Once the cap has been reached, the player will be considered all-in and won’t be able to raise any further amounts.

PokerStars has introduced 20BB Cap tables for all short-ring and full-ring games for $0.25/$0.50 and above, which for the time being, will be listed in the regular NLH and PLO lobbies. According to the PokerStars blog, the Cap tables may be moved to a separate lobby in the future. Additional Cap tables with higher bb limits may also be added in the future too.

Short stack players will also be unhappy to hear that PokerStars is also going to remove the NLHE 20-50bb tables for 6-max and 9-max NLHE and change the Euro NLHE tables from 25-100bb to 40-100bb on February 10th. This means that if you want to buy-in with a short stack poker bankroll than you’ll have to play in the Cap games instead. The games that are set to be removed will be closed during the next server restart on that day.

Secondly, PokerStars has increased their range of 6-max No Limit Omaha Hi Lo tables from $0.10/$0.25 up to $3/$6. Unlike the No Limit Holdem Cap tables, PokerStars is offering Cap tables in Pot Limit Omaha Hi Lo across all of their table stakes.

Finally, PokerStars might be making changes to the table buy-in minimums and maximums for Heads UP NLHE and all Omaha games in the future. Any changes to these games will be announced and implemented by PokerStars in February.
