NFL connoisseurs are tabbing both these teams for serious Super Bowl runs.  Rex Ryan’s children…err…the Ravens and Jets play similar styles of offense (pound the ball and dictate the tempo) and defense (chock full of fast, aggressive tacklers) so the game promises to be a good one.

The match should prove to be a good test of both young QB’s ability to handle expectations as well as which defense wants to set the tone for the year as the leagues toughest.  Kickoff is this Monday, September 13th, at 7:00 PM EST.

The Jets sealed up Darelle Revis (did anyone really think they would let him hold out into the regular season?) and thus have cemented themselves as one of the top teams to watch coming into this season.

The cameras may follow Mark Sanchez but it is on the defensive side of the ball that the Jets position themselves to win football games.  The power running game eats the clock and gets them into the end zone.

Substitute Revis for Boldin and Houshmandzadeh and Sanchez for Flaco and you’ve got the Ravens…

Ravens vs. Jets Prediction for NFL Week 1 Game

Spread Prediction – If having a team’s every movement (football and non-football related) broadcasted across cable TV isn’t enough to rattle its collective mettle then I wouldn’t be doubting Rex Ryan and Co. will simply not accept losing Monday night.

Add to it that, while it may not be the ‘official opening’ of the new Meadowlands stadium, it will be the first game there and no doubt the crowd will be stoked (J-E-T-S anyone?).  In short, Jets take this one.

Prediction >>>  Jets – 2.5

Game Total Prediction – Defense would seem to be the theme of the day here but it’s hard to see a low scoring affair.  Either one offense is going to decide to air it out when its not expected (see a couple of new Raven’s wide receivers) or a defense is going to cause a couple of turnovers for td’s.
