PokerStars has decided to create two additional texas hold’em tournaments. One tournament will take place on Mexican soil, the other Bulgarian. The date for the Mexico City tournament has been set for August 19th. It will end August 22nd. It will be called the First National Poker Tour and will be hosted by Casino Life del Valle. This will be the first such tournament in Mexico.

Three hundred poker players will be allowed to duke it out for supremacy in the First National Tournament. Competition will continue until 90 players remain. These 90 will make up the semi-final field. Those players will compete until there are just 10 remaining. The finals will be played August 22nd and the winner will be awarded 1 million Mexio Peso which have a U.S. equivalent of $78,000. They also will automatically be given a seat in the Latin American Poker Tour Grand Final, which will take place in Argentina, September 22nd to September 26th.

Every player will begin with 10,000 chips. All tables will be electric ones, which makes it possible for the dealers to happen faster then they otherwise would. Players won’t have to wait in between hands and their will be no need for floor calls because there are virtually no dealer errors.

Mexico City native, Angel Guillen, will participate in the tournament. Guillen is a PokerStars professional and also an accomplished player having finished in the runner-up spot in the $2500 No Limit Hold’em tournament (2009 WSOP). He won his own gold braclet about 10 days later in the $2000 No Limit Hold’em even, beating out more then 1000 competitors. Both of these finishes combined, made him $840,000 richer. Not bad at all!

There are three ways to participate in the First National Poker Tournament. Players can qualify through PokerStars.net which offers daily qualifiers. They can win a satellite event or via a direct buy-in, which is 10,000 + 1,000 Peso.
