The dates for the World Championship event of the World Team Poker were recently announced. According to Poker News Daily, the  tournament will take place in Las Vegas from October 11th through October 17th. Executives are working with the Golden Nugget, which was the host of the first tournament last month. The Golden Nugget has not yet been announced as the official venue for the poker tournament. The tournament will air on Fox Sports Net, with them coming in  10 different episodes. This coming July, Fox Sports Net will feature a teaser episode from the Golden Nugget.

Later – in September, the entire tournament will play out. The World Championship and the tour’s kickoff event will run back to back on Fox Sports Nets. 24 teams will take part in the tournament, including the first ever appearance from Canada and Russia. Team Canada, is expected to compete well in the tournament.  Players such as Daniel Negreanu, Nenad Medic and Glen Chorny could all take part as Team Canada members. Russia will look to have Alexander Kravchenko, Ivan Demidov and Vitaly Lunkin all winners of recent events in the world of poker.

Last year Dream Team held a tournament that coincided with the World Series of Poker. During that, 122 teams and 366 players came out. That is part of what has spurned the World Championship event to be held, for what they hope in the future is at the same time as the WSOP.

Many of the players in the tournament started their careers playing online poker. Online poker continues to grow, and has since the late 1990’s. Find the best locations to play online poker here.
